Dragon: Ageless beings that naturally occur in the form of a large winged lizard. These creatures have magics far beyond what most can comprehend and can change their form at will, being able to even take on the form of a human should they choose. Most are content to live in solitude, not disturbing anything but as with all things some are evil and must be rooted out and destroyed when young for the damages they can sow when adults is beyond staggering and can wipe out entire cities.
Drake: Giant dragon like lizard without wings. They are intelligent but some are cruel, all are calculating and have powerful magics at their disposal. Approach with caution if you must interact with one. These beings can be found in any biome.
Worms: Not just the little dirt eating poop tubes in the ground folks! It can also refer to massive slithering monstrosities that burrow and make whole cave systems. They are absolutely carnivorous and are blind.
Serpents/Basilisks: There are giant venomous snakes in this world whom also spit their hyper concentrated stomach acid. In this "Family" there is also Basilisks whom can also petrify and sometimes have legs.
Sentient Slime: Thought to be the byproduct of magical experimentation gone wrong, a variety of these nasties can be found throughout the world. The things they always have in common no matter where found are an insatiable hunger and the capacity to digest almost anything though they are carnivores and will not elect to consume flora of any form.
Dire Beasts: A vague term applied to any creature that bares resemblance to a naturally occurring animal but is far more than its ordinary counter part and can even be applied to a chimera of any sort. This can occur via the creature in question having hailed from a parallel place, being corrupted with magics, or can even be an established species such as winged wolves. Dire wolves here aren't really taller than a wolf but have stouter frames and ARE naturally occurring though now rare.
Warg: A rare, wolf-like creature that is roughly the size of a Kodiak Bear. Typically in cold climates and where meat is in abundance though can be found in plains and meadows. They were once related to grey-wolves but were drastically altered via magics. No one is sure whom is responsible as some were recorded to having been made, while others are suspected to be a product of nature, either way the results are terrifying. Their features range from simply a large wolf to being armed with large, razor sharp tusks and paws more akin to a bear. They are a fierce foe implementing their very hardy and capable physical form and potentially powerful magics. It is worth noting too that some may bare horns or other boney protrusions, even spines and spikes.
Lurkers: A Lurker starts out as a pitch black sentient tar pile that can move. Much like a Sentient Slime. However, these beings are far worse as they have some semblance of real intelligence and seem to enjoy torturing their prey. What makes these beings so foul is they will draw life forms in with mocked voices, fake merry camp fires and screams of distress. They then consume the flesh and organs and use their bones to give them a more stable form. Lurkers can be found in most environments, however they detest the cold as it is their weakness.
Unicorn: An equine-esque life form with a dark, curled lance like horn protruding from the brow plate. Despite what one may think, these creatures are in fact carnivorous and wield their horn, hooves and shark-like teeth with deadly efficiency. All Unicorns are by their very nature magical but the good news is they are rare in our plane of existence.
Demons: They come in many shapes and sizes, especially as many can alter their appearance at will. All are powerful magic casters and are witty. They do so love to trick mortals when making a deal, but they will always uphold their end of a bargain. Demons can be summoned from other planes, though some can be found on our plane too as they sometimes take a liking to the commodities of the world though they run the risk of being killed.
Vampires: Vampirisim is an interesting disease as it only effects beings whom hold a certain level of intelligence. The species doesn't matter. The condition is rare enough that very little is known about it at all. All that is certain is they consume blood, don't prefer daylight and are powerful. (Vampiric character's can not be had without Staff Approval)
Zombies: Any entity that has been taken over via cannibal spores. All zombies are carnivorous with no restraints, and are covered in fungi and lichens. The spores emitted from their bodies are contagious and it will result in the victims body and mind being taken over and controlled. It is also theorized that other zombies can detect the spores released and that it can be a form of communication. When dealing with these, Fire is your best friend.
Animated Skeletons: A Necromancer's best friend. The capacities range from very weak to the stuff nightmares are made of. It is dependent upon the power of the caster, if it was a ritual it can add power to the spell too, and the strength of the thing prior to it's passing. These are also sometimes modified via grafting and bracing their bones and other such things of that nature. It's never wise to underestimate these and they are forever vigilant.
Dar'astur: Large "wolf like" carnivorous reptiles who's bodies will physically adapt to fit most environments. No matter where they are, they can and will camouflage in and ambush their prey. Between their traveling in groups, their razor sharp claws, their mighty jaws and last but not least their neurotoxin's that causes soft tissues to rupture and is "contagious" via contact. Their stomach acid content will let them digest just about any organic matter without issue or illness falling upon them making them a real problem.
Chupacabra: Not exactly wide spread but most assuredly real. It's not clear if they were always here or if they came here. Either way they are a nuisance animal.
Big-Foot: Large fur covered humanoids that are typically in the 6-8 foot tall range. They are great hunters despite their size and use Chupacabra as hunting dogs.
Water-Panther: A rare being to behold, it’s usually described as a giant dragon-like feline, and the most common element is the monster’s aquatic habitat; it lurks in lakes and rivers, waiting for prey to come close to the water, then pulls them under and drowns them. It’s even said to have a snake for a tail and is rumored to be able to petrify its foes with magic.
Hags: A female, humanoid like creature that is part bird of some form and part human-ish female in its appearance. All are crafty and highly intelligent and are typically regarded as evil. They posses powerful magics and some say they may induce a trance to see briefly into the future.
The Tatani: Tiny, colorful humanoid's that rarely are above 4 feet in height. These peoples have sharp senses and are great with poisons and have a tendency to eating raw flesh and lean towards cannibalism. Though of a tribal and nomadic culture, they will sometimes settle into a city and pretend to be lost children whom need aid and lure victims into a ambush to eat them.
Jotun's: Ice giants from the realm of ice, these people are massive as they are always at least 10 feet tall and are barbaric and dim witted.
Lo'cindur: Mighty serpent like creatures that now reside within the water's of earth, typically leaning towards deep bodies of water with high traffic as that means more prey for them! Having eyes on the sides as normal and back of their head makes them hard to deal with when you consider their mobility, tough hide, bladed tail, and their capacity to electrocute. All are large enough to swallow most people whole with ease.
Rat King: Earth slang for monstrous, quill covered rodent's that came over on spaceships and through portals, these have a spiked tongue that can launch out and hook onto food to drag into their mouth. Seeing as to how they are the size of a smallish dog and travel in groups, they can be quite the problem.
Banshee/Phantom: Their origins aren't clear, but what is certain is a cry may leave you deafened and open to ambush as they may phase through physical objects or turn invisible, leaving them totally untraceable. If one maintains their hearing you may hear a low hum like energy around them at all times. Physical weapons do no harm to them, however energy weapons make short work of them, as does magic and electricity.
Flesh-Walker: Robotic being's that slays the living for the sole reason of enjoyment and to don their skin long enough to kill another. They keep teeth or ears as trophies and it is thought they have a hunter based culture and that they see other higher forms of life as the ultimate prey and test.
Brek'arti: Large, flying amphibious dragon shaped creatures from some bizarre plane of existence that swim as well as they fly. They have their eyes on a series of tentacles protruding from their head as well as a beak hidden in the center of them. These are massive pests that gnaw on ships parts and attempt to consume their crew and cargo. They will sometimes attack cities though its not as common as they are typically shot down on sight.
The Hollow: It's unclear if they have any sort of goals but what is sure is these humanoids will seek out and devour the brains of others and take their place to then further their capacity to impersonate more and more people. It would appear they gain the consumed's knowledge and memories. The only tell tale sign is the sometimes faint orange glow of the eyes and if exposed to salt they shriek and are forced into their natural state.
