Beta rubbed her neck, “I think Carson once mentioned that some sort of moss just smoldered instead of burning... although I don’t think that’s what you’re looking for then... surely you could just take any kind of live plant then?” Ceasing the tapping of her foot, the bionic huffed and crossed her arms. Seems she was more clueless that she originally had thought.

"That's very true. Moss holds moisture. But.... It holds ssoooooo much that it is bad to set fire on. All you need is sticks. The don't need to be anything fancy. It's ok if the base eventually burns." Draig decides maybe giving Beta a little bit of space would help, so he unpacks the coffee pot and the beans and starts processing them down into a coarse powder to increase the surface area, thus shortening the brew time.

Shaking her head, Beta simply shrugged muttering a small, “Fuck it,” under her breath. Slowly approaching the tree line, Beta crouched and grabbed several larger sized sticks from the ground. “Alright. We’re gonna try,” She called over her shoulder standing up, “I’m probably over thinking all of this-“ Beta chuckled to herself, spinning on her heels and approaching the fire pit once again. “If I burn this place down I’m blaming you,” The bionic chimed sarcastically. With that, she crouched down and dropped the sticks into the pit, shifting them so they neatly lined the bottom of the pit.

With a roll of his eyes Draig agrees. "Yeah yeah if you can make a raging inferno that I can't put out you can blame me all you want. Although... I wouldn't worry so much. Look at your lining. You got it right. You are more capable then you know. You just gotta relax and not over think things."

“Mm- Over thinking is what I’m best at.” Beta chuckled, glancing back at Draig for a moment. “But hey- Maybe I won’t burn down the entire forest. This time at least.” She winked. Slowly, the bionic leaned back and grabbed the wood they’d brought closer to the pit. Carefully, she began to place it into the pit. “Alright...”

"T-This time?...." Draig mutter's a bit concerned now, moving to be a bit closer to Beta so he can make sure she's alright. "Ok... Good so far. You haven't added gunpowder or something crazy so you should be fine."

“Ahh don’t worry about it. If wasn’t directly my fault but... Yeah jus don’t worry about it.” Beta chuckled, shaking her head before glancing over to Draig once he moved closer. “Is it ready to light or...?” She asked, a small flicker of worry gracing her eyes, afraid she’d done some incorrectly. Who wouldn’t be?

"Hmmmm... Beta. How do you learn best? Would it be better to just leave you to it or do you want me to take each step with you? Either way is great. But. I notice you are worried, and I don't want you to be. If I am causing you to worry and stress I am very much sorry." Draig removes a lighter from his survival kit and places it next to the ring, in the even Beta would prefer to use it as the source of combustion and patiently awaits her response, calm and cool.

“I don’t... I don’t know.” Beta breathed, glancing down solemnly. “It dosent matter though.... anyhow- lets just get this damn fire lit.” She huffed, fluffing the white tuft on her head once again. The bionic glanced down, reaching down and picking up the lighter Draig had left. “Thanks,” Beta chimed before striking down on the lighter and watching the small flame flicker. Carefully, the female leaned forward and held the flame to the smaller flammables, eyes narrowing as the flame spread onto the other parts of the fire pit before slipping back. “Sorry that took so long-“

Draig smiles and claps softly. “That actually wasn’t that bad hun. I’ve seen it take waaaay longer. That was a VERY solid first go, especially since you did indeed get a fire! Now how does some coffee and becoming a blanket burrito again sound? If you’re hungry I can make you some breakfast once we get some coals.”

“Mm- Good to know— Thank you... and some coffee would be nice.” Beta smiled softly, glancing back and chuckling. “Thank you for your patience,” She started, reaching back and booping his nose, “I need it.” The dame finished, leaning back onto her right arm.

Draig playfully snips at her finger after she boops his nose. "Awwwww... But of course Beta. No one likes being yelled at or pushed. And I care about you so all the more reason to take things slow and ensure you know it right. Going too fast or adding stress just makes you forget AND make mistakes. So it's something I try to avoid." Setting up the tri-pod made of green branches, Draig hangs the pot of water over the fire. As the water begins to steam, Draig adds the grinds to the water ever so carefully before increasing its distance from the heat source to keep it from boiling. "You may be wondering why I'm doing the coffee like this. It keeps it form being as bitter since it's not gunna boil AND it keeps the grounds from floating around all over. If you boil it, they churn and are through out the liquid. If you just get it to the right temperature they float and can then be scooped out or you can tap the side of the can once its cooled just a touch and the grounds drift to the bottom of the can."

Beta chuckled, “Exactly— see, you’re a pretty good teacher.” The bionic sat back and decided to just watch. “Hm. What an interesting way to make coffee.” She tilted her head, staring almost fascinated at the unfamiliar way to make the bitter liquid. “Then again- I suppose a lot more things are gonna be unfamiliar to me and what I’m used to doing.” The female tacked on.

"If you say so~" Despite Beta's reassurances, Draig finds it hard to believe he's a good teacher when he was just trying not to be an asshole. As the coffee finishes, Draig pulls it off and sets it onto the dirt to cool as he sifts the grinds off the top, delicately so they aren't stirred in. "Interesting you say? Isn't it-... Oh. Riiight you're used to some contraption that makes it aren't you? This is what you do if you're poor. Or.... Out at war for years... You can't trust all those moving parts and I wasn't about to piss away our resources on a coffee maker. Even if thats minimal. It adds up." Carefully pouring Beta a cup, he stops it about half full. "Do you want anything in it or do you take it plain?"

Beta chuckled slightly, “Well yes, we did have a coffee maker, but actually we... I usually just used a kettle and coffee filters. But hey- This technique is still foreign to me. And then again... we didn’t really drink coffee.” She shurgged, ears perking when he inquired. “Oh, and it doesn’t matter to me, like I said we didn’t drink coffee much, so when I did it often varied in how I made it.” The bionic sat back and crossed her legs.
